Semi-Pit Weighbridges, also labeled Ground Level Exposed Beams Weigh-bridges are constructed moderately in the ground, allowing the deck`s weighing surface to be at ground level. In some cases there may be severe space restrictions not allowing the minimum 1m clearance for side access to the load cells as required by the National Measurement Institute`s rules & regulations – in these cases prior discharge must be sort to warrant weighbridge deck access covers to be installed above each load cell point.
Advantages:
- Ideal for sites with high space restrictions.
- Smaller site footprint than the Above Ground Weighbridge, No ramps needed.
Disadvantages:
- Costly weighbridge option due to more excavation work.
- More preparation required before construction.
- Requires drainage attention.
