The need for a full length weighbridge was required by the customers increased business growth, requiring them to ensure all trucks were weighed prior to leaving site to avoid vehicle weigh down. Vehicle overloading effects the driver and the vehicle owners being fined for going over vehicle maximum loadings.
The semi pit weighbridge design best matched the site situation of limited access at both ends of the weighbridge. An above ground weighbridge would have needed longer access ramps and would have increased the weighbridge site footprint. The weighing deck of a surface pit weighbridge is at ground level and gives easier truck access both on and off the weighbridge.
The 60tonne x 20kg hot dipped galvanised steel concrete infill weighbridge was fitted with 6 heavy duty CAS canister type load cells, a strong Rinstrum 5000 indicator, D740 external remote display for simple viewing of weights by drivers and also installed was a Standard Metal Recyclers Software package, linked to the customers operating systems.
