Australasia Scales outfitted, installed and established a 28m x 3.5m above ground weighbridge install at an Atherton Waste Transfer Station in the month of October 2011.

The 80t x 20kg/50kg double range, fully hot dipped galvanised steel concrete weighbridge was made with 8 heavy duty CAS canister type load cells, 2 D740 Rinstrum External Remote Displays for bi-directional use and a R420 Rinstrum indicator fitted with RS485 modules to dispatch weight signals to the remote displays.

Due to the very high average rainfall experienced in the Tablelands Region concrete truck access to all sides of the weighbridge was made impossible as a result of poor surface traction, this meant concrete pumps had to be brought in to complete concrete pouring of the base slab, weighbridge decks, approaches and ramps.

When planning a Weighbridge install during the wet season expect delays during the civil works construction phase, which may more than often result in high standby / delay costs, additional machinery and tools required i.e. concrete pumps, water pumps to extract rain water that may fill excavated Weighbridge area, also additional costs for precautionary measures such as blinding concrete or crush rock placed at bottom of the excavated Weighbridge foundation area to limit mud and debris build up.
